Financial Literacy in action

The activities carried out during the research stage on financial literacy played a significant role in developing essential life skills among students. Through the use of a questionnaire, students were encouraged to reflect on their own financial habits and attitudes toward money. This process not only improved their self-awareness but also helped them understand the importance of responsible financial behavior from an early age.  One of the most impactful activities was learning how to create a realistic budget using the “Six Thinking Hats” method. This approach challenged students to look at financial decisions from multiple perspectives—logical, emotional, creative, and critical. As a result, they developed critical thinking and decision-making skills, learning how to evaluate needs versus wants, anticipate possible risks, and find balanced solutions. These are valuable competencies that extend far beyond financial education and can be applied in everyday life situations. Additionally, the activity of creating a Money Box encouraged students to practice saving in a tangible and engaging way. By setting goals and managing their own small savings, students gained a sense of responsibility, patience, and discipline. They also experienced the satisfaction of achieving personal objectives, which can boost motivation and confidence. Overall, these activities contributed to shaping students into more independent, thoughtful, and financially aware individuals. By combining reflection, practical application, and creative thinking, the program supported the development of life skills that will benefit them in both personal and professional contexts.
